Vida-Ví, Country House and B&B!
Located in the countryside of the Silver Coast, close to Caldas da Rainha, just about an hour drive up north from Lisbon and half an hour away from the coast, the astonishing beaches of Foz do Arelho and São Martinho do Porto and the Óbidos Lagoon.
Formerly known as "Quinta Encosta das Freiras”, this typical old Portuguese farmhouse (Quinta) consists of several annexes, a big room for events, a patio with a pergola, an extensive garden, two ponds and a beautiful pool with view over the surrounding scenery.
We recently completed our renovation project, redesigned completely the rooms and put everything in place that you need for a beautiful relaxing holiday. We can’t wait to welcome you at our Quinta and show you this corner of Portugal!
The space, the view and the energy of the Quinta make it ideal for group activities with 12-14 people, all kinds of workshops (painting, ceramic, cooking,…), meditation, yoga, sport and boot camps, family reunions, company events or just for a holiday to get away from it all, reconnect with nature and recharge the batteries.
In line with this more natural and healthy lifestyle we will offer our guests freshly cooked meals of local products with a strong focus on vegetarian and vegan dishes. Typical Portuguese fish and meat dishes can be found in the local restaurants.
Central Portugal has a lot to offer: Besides the breathtaking Atlantic coast, the beaches and the beautiful lagoon of Óbidos (kite surfers paradise), the picturesque little towns like Caldas da Rainha (thermal hospital and ceramics), Óbidos, Alcobaça and Nazaré (the big wave) are worth a visit. Go for a day trip to Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra or Fatima or visit the colourful and eccentric Buddha Garden in Bombarral. There are several golf courses nearby as well as some nice wineries.
The Place
The Vida-Ví, Country House and B&B sits on top of the hill and overlooks a beautiful natural valley. It is located in the countryside of the Silver Coast, near Caldas da Rainha, an historical thermal town just about an hour drive up north from Lisbon and less than half hour away from the coast, the astonishing beaches of Foz do Arelho and São Martinho do Porto and the Óbidos Lagoon.

We have three socialised dogs (a large one, Nacho, weighing about 50 kg, a medium one, Nena, weighing about 15 kg, and a small one, Linus, weighing about 6 kg).
The Rooms
Choose between one of the cozy, comfortable double rooms and one family room.
All rooms have been gently remodeled, individually decorated with original art and furnished with restored or carefully selected furniture as well as equipped with high quality box spring beds and a bathroom with rain shower.
All rooms feature free High Speed WiFi connectivity, USB charging connectors, free cruelty-free toiletries, towels, bathrobes, linen and what you need for a beautiful, relaxing holiday.
The breakfast lounge
A large well for water supply was originally housed here, but is no longer in operation today.
Instead, this light-flooded room now houses a cozy breakfast and sunset lounge with colorful tropical flair and the opportunity to relax indoors or outdoors on the wooden deck and enjoy the views over the courtyard and pool. In the evening you can admire the spectacular sunsets of the Silver Coast from the wooden deck.
The breakfast-lounge is equipped with a bar, a kitchenette, a coffee machine and a wine and beverage fridge and offers our guests the possibility to prepare a small snack themselves.
In addition, the room has Wi-Fi and television.
In line with a more natural and healthy lifestyle, we'll serve at our buffet freshly prepared vegetarian (ovo-lacto) and vegan breakfast delicacies, like a selection of local cheeses, natural leavened breads, self baked muffins, fresh pressed juices and fruits.
Equipped with its semi-professional kitchen will also be used to prepare delicious meals with a strong focus on vegetarian (ovo-lacto) and vegan dishes mainly based on our Italian origins. Typical Portuguese fish and meat dishes can be found in the local restaurants.
The Pool
The large (10mx5m), recently renovated salt water pool is located on the top level of the property. It is easily accessible from all rooms and the breakfast room, is fully fenced and surrounded on the south and west side with glass front, to ensure protection form the wind. It offers a scenic view of the natural surrounding and the garden, and is one of the ideal places to enjoy the amazing Silver Coast sunsets.
It features a large stair to access the water and a trampolin and floodlighting. The depth varies between 1,5 and 2,5m.
The garden
The extensive mature garden is distributed on three different levels. It features a large variety of carefully selected indigenous or naturalized plants, offering flowers and a multitude of colors all year round, thanks to the very mild climate.
Two ponds that can be found on the lower levels, with rich water flora and fauna. A natural water source completes the idyllic environment.
Choose among the several quiet and secluded corners, equipped with comfortable garden furniture to get away, observe nature, free your mind and regenerate.
The Honesty Bar
Currently located in the tropical breakfast lounge, the Honesty Bar offers a selection of carefully selected wines, as well as a choice of soft drinks and beers.

- Breakfast is included in room price unless explicitly excluded in the rate selected;
- Breakfast is served from 8:30 to 10:30;
- A maximum of 2 people is allowed per room (4 in the quadruple unit);
- Rooms & common areas are strictly non-smoking zones;
- Children cannot access the Pool area without supervision;
- Pool Towels are not intended to be used for the beach;
- Our guests appreciate quiet time between 23:00 and 8:00;
- It is forbidden by the law to take glass container (jars/bottle/glasses) in the fenced pool area; Please ask for reusable polycarbonate glasses;
